Paint!...just for the fun of it!

Today, I was shopping in the Dollar Tree with friend, Cassi & her cute kids. We bought all kinds of crazy things!

Especially ALOT of stuff to decorate the fieldhouse for the Hereford game. Anyway, while loading all our stuff in the car, a package of scrapbook paper caught my eye! It was so cool! It had all these different chairs sketched on , in black. This is a close up of one of the chairs...

I really loved the look and style of the art and felt compelled to run back in and buy all they had. Suddenly I realized that really what excited me, was the thought of painting one of the chairs onto a really large canvas(or all of the chairs on a lot of large canvas & hang them on a long dining room wall). I could just imagine it! .....but wondered where I would hang it; what would I do with it?

Well, Cassi, being the good and helpful friend she is, suggested she buy a BIG canvas and I could paint on it for her! So we left the Dollar Tree and went to Michaels where art canvas' just happen to be on sale. Yeah! So she bought a tall skinny one and we headed home. The next day,I went out to my garage/studio ........

grabbed some bottles and tubes of acrylic paint

and some paint brushes.

Cassi and Mandy cheered me on

as I quickly sketched on a chair!
It was great to 'squeeze out' some paint

and brush it on!
I enjoyed every minute! In fact, I was having SO much fun I grabbed another canvas, tore off the plastic wrapper and popped it on the easel. ....hmmmm, what to paint? Well, I didn't have to look far for inspiration because right in front of me was another Dollar Tree find (a gift bag) that I had bought several months ago. When I saw this lucious little cake I wanted to dive into it! So I got one to have on hand for such a moment as this!

I love that cake! ...and couldn't resist! Looking at the design I sketched it onto the canvas

with charcoal and then began to mix and apply the delicious colors. What fun! I have no idea what I'll do with this...I mean what does one do with a painting of a piece cake?

But it's so yummy and delighful !..... and I'm glad did it!

Simply delicious!

Jump in, girls! Treat yourself! Have a little fun. Create something today!

Hey, Roxanne! What a fun post! My house is clean, the yard is mowed and I don't have anything to do but paint something!!!

I wish I'd seen you at ACU. I knew you had a connection to Ron Hall, but didn't know it was such a close one. It is a remarkable story and we were so glad to be able to hear them in person. It will always remind me of what God can do through us if we're willing - even if we're a little resistant:)I would love to talk to you more about it.

What fun thing are you going to do today?

Roxy, Thanks for the inspiration! I think I just got bit by the creative bug! The chair is adorable. I need to hit up my local dollar store. Your studio is adorable. I would love to see it in person. Have you ever thought about teaching art? Not that you aren't busy enough as it is.
