Juice Fast- a two month reflection!

Today, after two months of juice fasting I am pausing to celebrate!  After years of hoping and wishing to lose weight, I’ve finally headed in the right direction! I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve started a diet and fizzled out two weeks later, but this time was different. You may be wondering why I was successful this time? I decided that it all comes down to this.

I’m certain it was only a matter of time before my family would rub off on me.

As you see, I am surrounded by fighters!

They are hard working, ‘really know how to grind’, Winners! Every single one of them! They inspire me. With both their words and their actions. They challenge the competitor in me, and fan the flickering flame on my desire to be fit and strong. They make me want to join in, not as a spectator, but as an active participant!

Over the years they have talked and talked and talked and talked. Trying their best to coach and convince me to make healthy changes. They knew I wasn’t comfortable in my skin/fat. Only God knows why it took me so long but on January 8th, my 35th wedding anniversary Kim suggested I watch a documentary she had just seen.

It was called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I did. That was the day the light went off for me. I made up my mind right then and there and decided I could and would do this.

Two days later, I began my first ever juice fast.

Juicing four times a day, 80 percent vegetables and 20 percent fruit.

I immediately felt great. Never hungry or weak.

I had fun experimenting and documenting my experience, here on my blog. Several of you commented and encouraged me with you words.

I got into a groove. I started reading and re-educating my ‘Paula Deen’ way of thinking.

I also joined Titan 3 Boot Camp! Owner, Ike has a great program that was just right for me and though I was old and overweight, I felt at home and enjoyed going. Week after week, I saw and felt improvement. Juicing and exercising was an enjoyable combination that God used to give me a sense of well being and hope. I looked forward to this new routine each day. I weighed daily and was thrilled to lose weight almost every day.

Two weeks ago, on day 48, I began to add lean protein back into my diet. This was my first protein shake. It was delicious!

Now, I’m on another adventure. Juicing was just the beginning.

The first week, I gained four pounds but last week I lost 4 1/2 and expect to lose at least 2-3 a week, from here on out.

I’m still going to boot camp and on most days, I have added a long walk in the afternoon.

My weight loss is currently 30 pounds. I look and feel better.

Today, standing in front of a mirror, I saw a new me. I couldn’t help but smile and feel thankful.

My journey continues as I learn to listen to my body and ignore my old ways by substituting them with nutritious options. I’m rediscovering food. Enjoying lot’s of vegetables and the way they taste. Appreciating their goodness, like never before. I’m fascinated that every fruit and vegetable has it’s own unique nutritional gold mine. Divinely designed to feed, fuel and restore every part of our body. Our mothers knew what they were talking about when they told us to ‘eat our veggies’!

Please let me know if I can do anything to help you find your way to healthiness.

Hi Roxanne -

It was great meeting you in Mexico. I enjoyed talking to you daily and learning all about your juicing. My husband and I watched the documentary last night and were so inspired. Our juicer is on the way - we are excited to add such a healthy element to our lives.

I will be excited to continue watching you on your journey.
