Watching our daughter Kim on this seasons
Survivor has been surreal to say the least!
I mean our family, like most, watches
TV we’re not on it! The whole ‘reality TV thing’
kind of messes with your mind. Coach and I send
way too much time trying to figure it all out. It’s
all so time consuming and mind boggling! :)
To be honest, this is the first time ever Coach
and I have ever bought into Survivor, the castaways
and the drama, hook, line and sinker! I’m a little
embarrassed to say, we can’t get enough!
To intensify matters, last week on episode12 our
daughter Beth made a surprise visit to Kim! Watching
all of these precious people, half starved and
sleep deprived, get a glimpse of their ‘loved
one’ was more than I could bear. Being a bit
overly emotional, I was sobbing from the get-go!
Can you imagine? Living thirty days in the ‘wilds’ of
a tropical island, far from the love and comforts of
home. Literally starving, surround by strangers all trying
to ‘Outwit, Outlast and Outplay’ one another and
win $1,000,000! How utterly exhausting!!! Who in their
right mind would do such a thing? Much less think it fun?
Oh! That’s right. Our beautiful, God loving, fun filled,
compassionate, adventure seeking, light-up-the-room,
athletic daughter, Kimberly Brooke Spradlin. Recently
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it. Trying to
imagine how my precious daughter felt, day after day,
cold night after night. Living off the land, for
her food and water. Embracing the people around her
with love and respect while quietly playing the game.
As evidenced in last weeks immunity challenge,
Kimberly is one focused young woman!
Her determination reminds me of her father.
It has not always be easy for a ‘free-spirit’,
‘fly by the sit of your pants’, out of the
box thinker like myself to be married to a man of
excellence. But now more than ever, I appreciate
with all my heart, all the things he taught
our children. In addition to a long list of
important qualities, he taught them how to be strong.
So last Wednesday, as I watched our strong but weary
Kim let down her guard and tearfully melt into her
sister’s arms, it was almost more than I could take.
Seeing my girls embraced in this tearful hug was
something this momma will never forget!
Love.
There is nothing greater.
If you have it you have everything!

A special thanks to Beth for leaving your precious little ones and traveling far, far from home, to take Kim just what she needed! No one could have done it better! You looked fabulous and we couldn't be prouder.

Roxanne, before this season of Survivor aired I let my mom know that a coaching wife friend of mine daughter would be on the show. My mom and stepdad are huge fans of the show and watch every season! Now my mom has become a BIG fan of Kims, she calls and talks to me about every show, ha! You have every right to be one proud mama!!
Big hugs during Spring football!!
PS where you at the Country Living fair in Austin last weekend? My mom and I were there and I thought I saw you but when I came back around "you" were gone or I would have formally introduced myself and said hi!!
I'm loving rooting for Kim! I've never met her but I can see yours and Coach's spirit in her!
We were right there with you, tears rolling down our cheeks!! So sweet to see such sisiterly love!!
