Cotton Eyed Joe!

Well, folks he's done it again! Terry Browder, designer and proprietor of Sayles Ranch Guest House's has just completed his sixth cottage, fittingly called the Cotton Eyed Joe. You may remember back in September, I posted about City Slickers (#5) after painting on the entry walls?

This charming accommodation will have your heart dancing from the moment you walk through the door! From the beautiful old Belgium street lamp.....

to the historic decor, you'll this enjoy everything about this house. It's the perfect home, away from home!

You'll find creative details in every direction.....books in the fireplace.......

.......painted wood floors..........exposed ship-lap walls.........monogrammed burlap and antique quilts upholstered chairs and much more.

Three great bedrooms, this one wallpapered in antique deeds, are cozy and well appointed.

The kitchen is a fabulous collection of old and new. Antique ceiling tiles, old paper, broken dishes, chippy paint, collide with new appliances, stainless steel and modern conveniences!

A cozy nook off the kitchen, provides a perfect place for morning coffee or a quiet spot for reading! Note: The walls are covered in old book covers.

The middle bedroom features painted floors,

antique rope bed ...

and private full bath.

Another bath is decorated in old ceiling tiles and accessorized with a Victorian mirror and modern sink. An edgy combination that definitely works!

Hand painted floors throughout the Cotton Eyed Joe, keeps everything interesting.

The third bedroom definitely has the 'wow factor'! A lovely king size bed,

vintage hutch in the corner ...

and a striking oil, painted by Browder, creates a soothing ambiance.

All things work together in this house. A harmony of amenities and aesthetics, provide a pleasing atmosphere. Making the Cotton Eyed Joe a must!

Perfect for your next Abilene, Texas get away!

For more information visit the Sayles Ranch Guesthouse's!

So grabbed your favorite boots and meet your family and friends at the Cotton Eyed Joe. You won't be disappointed. These guest houses are better than a B & B!!! ....and all six houses are within a 2 block radius! Perfect for your next executive bird hunt, family reunion or weekend retreat!

Call off the search!!! I've found her! My new friend, China Green, is a shy little thing. Never says a word! I picked her up at the flea market in Warrenton. She kept me company on the ride home. A wonderful listener! As you can see, I talked her head off!!! She's real pretty and hard worker too! I love her attire! Boy, does she know how to layer! Just look at all that jewelry! From the charm bracelets (turned necklace), turqouise beads, and black pearls to the dangling old salt shaker, complete w/ typed scripture (You are the salt of the earth...Matthew 5:13). Oh! and I almost forgot the bead chain full of old keys.....a sure sign that she is well trusted.

And what do you think about her green olive tafetta skirt hiked-up just a peek to reveal several lovely petticoats?

Also you'll find some all important details at her waist......

Please notice the wide brocade belt tied into a knot, where she has pinned her Indiana State Fair Employee #318 badge(where she has proudly worked for many years). And last, but certainly not least, you'll find a tiny Order pad & pencil where she kindly jots down any and all requests. She is quite a gal!

Dog day!

It's snowing again!
I checked this morning and the average snowfall in Abilene Texas is 5 inches. As of today we've gotten 12 inches in the first two months of 2010! School was cancelled and coach was bummed! For the past two weeks he's been recouperating from hip replacement surgery and today he was looking forward to going back to work. He LOVES his job and can't wait to get back. But he'll have to wait and it looks like we'll have one more lazy day , just hanging out with the schnauzers, Mitzi & Abby.
Wow, can these dogs sleep.
So we watched a Tyler Perry movie and laughed a lot. I took a few pictures and busied myself with this blog post. Made beef stew (love the smell of sauteed onions!) and made sourdough bread. It was really a great day!
I found Abby standing at the back door. She went out relunctantly. Walking around and around. I got so tickled. You had to be there! When she finished, the wet snow was caked onto her legs. :)

Snow is so beautiful. A rare treat in West Texas. I'm curious, have you had a lot of snow this year?
