Yesterday after art class, I took inspiration from the pumpkins we painted in class (way to go Boots! Your pumpkin is perfect!!!) and developed the idea into something bigger. I'm growing pumpkins behind my house for the first time ever so I really enjoyed painting these.
It's been fun watching these huge vines grow.
Speaking of huge vines...have you ever grown these?
I bought this big beauty at the farmers market this morning and had plans to cut it and set up a simple still life tomorrow (day 3). However, today was very full and I didn't get a chance to paint until 5:00 pm. I only had an hour and couldn't decide what to paint. Honestly, I didn't want to be there but as you can see I stayed and I'm glad I did. Something about this painting that makes me smile. Perhaps it's the pink contrasting with the black, or the seeds and the long shadows they are casting, maybe it's the ridiculous scale of the watermelon in ratio to the table but I'm happy about it!

Oh how I wish I were closer to Abilene!
I really like this painting. It has a folk art look that I love.
Your name is missing on your STALTP submission, but it looked like your work. Glad I found it!
Provoking composition, Roxanne! Way to go!
