Fun way to support your favorite team!

Lexi Bloesch, came over today and made a cutest burlap football! The was the third time, since Saturday night, to make these and today's was by far best. Here are the directions.

What you will need to make one brown football:

1/2 yard of dark brown burlap (Hobby Lobby)

1/2 c. of Matt Modge Podge

1/2 c. water

13 x 9 pan

Scissors

Tube of white acrylic

Tube(s) of acrylic paint (your school)

Small still bristle paint brush

Hot glue gun and glue sticks or stapler

10 - 15 plastic grocery shopping bags

Wire to hang

Ribbon to decorate

Directions:

On a large sheet of paper cut out a football shape approx. 12 x 19. Cut out with scissors, to make a pattern. Lay pattern onto folded burlap and cut out 2 footballs.

In a jar with lid mix and shake 1/2 c. of Modge Podge and 1/2 c. water. Pour into 13 x 9 pan or dish.

Lay burlap footballs into 13 x 9 and saturate with Modge Podge/Water mixture. Roll up burlap like a burrito and press, squeeze, turn until evenly wet. Remove from the pan. Unroll and smooth out, onto protected/drop clothed table top. Air dry or speed up the process with a blow dryer. Fabric will be stiff.

With a paint brush and white acrylic paint, draw in the laces and white bands on the ends of ball on one side of burlap.

With school colors paint logo, mascot or design. Dry and re coat if needed. When dry, put football cutouts together, one on top of the other and hot glue or staple all the way around the edges, leaving the last 6" open. Crumple and stuff, one plastic shopping bag at a time into the 6" opening. Hot glue the opening closed.

Cut wire and push through two places on top of the football. Bending wire edge to secure.

Tie decorative ribbon on wire to complete the project.

Enjoy making this fun project and countless others, using different patterns for other sports, gifts, seasonal decorations or celebrations. Don't be afraid to try this. It's fun and.... forgiving which I hope you will be if these directions aren't very clear. :) The main thing is have fun. After you get the hang of it, let the kids try it!
