I’m in a bit of a funk. I’ve got so much to be thankful for and plenty to do. I just can’t seem to get motivated. It’s been forever since I painted. My garage is still full of boxes. I miss my old friends. I could use an encouraging word if you’ve got one. I’m already smiling in anticipation.

  1. First of all, I think you are one of the most inspirational people that I know! You sparkle creativity!

Second of all, when I get in a funk, a few words of inspiration surely help. Here are a few that I personally like:

"...The magic is inside YOU. There ain't no crystal ball." -- Dolly Parton

"...When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything You gave me.'" -- Erma Bombeck

"...If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain MOVE from here to there and it WILL move and nothing will be impossible for you..." -- Matt 17:20

"...Kid, you'll move mountains..." -- Dr. Seuss

  2. First - ditto for Susan's comment. Secondly, I've moved many times and after the excitement of a new place, new house, new friends, there is always a period of missing what was before from friends to daily routines. For me, it takes a little work to say good-bye to my little pity party. I have to remind myself to pick myself up and just get busy doing something I love and things then begin to change. Sometimes it is slower than I would like, but it does happen. I know you have moved, too and probably have gone through this before, but maybe not so hard. So pick up your brush and paint one of those fantastic paintings that you do! Of course, a little chocolate helps, too!! :-) (((Hugs)))

  6. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

  9. Hey Roxi...It is easy to sit here in my comfort spot and think of many things to say. It is you who is on a journey down a road that has not been traveled by many of us.The artwork that was involved in setting up your new home... priceless! The artwork that went into turning your yard into a spiritual retreat... priceless. The art of bringing love and joy to so many new faces... priceless. From my comfort spot it would appear that you have yet to put your brush down. My cup runneth over with the love and admiration I have for you!

  11. Roxanne, how your comments and your art inspires me ... and it is evident by the comments left here, that you inspire all whose lives you touch. "My cup runneth over!"

I, too, have moved recently ... and I know the "funk" of which you speak. The transition, while certainly an opportunity for growth, can be a challenge ... sometimes lonely, sometimes exciting.

Paint ... create ... express the gamut of your feelings in your art and in your words! Continue to use your incredible gifts to inspire us all, both old and new friends!

  12. Roxanne,

Although this is an older post today it took me back to all the moves I have made and I am currently in the process of making another move. I just spent the last hour reading your blog. Found you via Mary Gregory who I found via another artist Gail Shelton. Isn't it wonderful how our world can enlarge not only because we move around, but via a blog or website that inspires or encourages us.

On another note...I also love Texas, My roots are grounded in Texas via my parents and their parents.

Sounds like you have jumped into your new world with both feet and are finding your place.

    Blessings
