Flowers!

As the weather begins to warm up here in West Texas, the fruit trees are budding, quince and forsythia are blooming, daffodils and iris are putting on a show! I recently filled a couple of large clay pots with daffodils, hyacinths, snapdragons, ranunculus, johnny jump ups, thyme, kale and alysium. Now these living bouquets are bursting into colorful bloom!

A couple of weeks ago, when Clint and Jenny got married,

we were able to use flowering branches from the plum tree in the back yard

at the Bridesmaid Brunch. The branches were placed in simple glass cylinders, bought for $1.00 each at the Dollar Tree, and wrapped in scrapbook paper.

The blooms and the homemade strawberry jam that said, " Spread the Love" (thanks Beth!) was a sweet touch to Jenny's special day!

We used the same type of cylinders as votive candles at the rehearsal dinner. Wrapped in a personalized scrap page, made at Scrapblog.com, added a nice little touch.

Texas memorabilia, like domino's, old soda bottle caps, vintage post cards (copied onto card stock), confetti' ed burlap runners on the long tables. The branches from the brunch, served double duty, by filling up an old metal potato chip can! (2 thumbs up Lynnie) .....and by the way! Los Vaqueros, in the Ft. Worth stockyards, did a great job. We couldn't have been happier! I know that was random, but thought I'd mention it.....

I must take this opportunity to thank my sister Lynnette for all of her help! Unforunately, I cannot begin to tell you all the things this beautiful woman has done for me. Thanking Lynnette(click and see for yourself), is a like thanking your mother for raising you. She has done SO MUCH. SO OFTEN for SO MANY! The truth is she helps everyone! She never tires and is always joyful ! God has given her the gift of hospitality and it is amazing to watch her in action. Inspirational really. I wish she could be your sister too! Everyone should be so fortunate. Lynnette, I love you with all my heart.

  7. Oh, how really sweet. I had a great time helping with everything and it all turned out beautiful. (That doesn't surprise me at all!) I loved the vases with the scrapbook paper on them and the branches. They bloomed beautifully. Can't wait 'til the next event, but since your's are all married, guess it will have to be mine or Chris'. Love you, :)
