It's official! Summer is over and Football Season is here! Two-a-days begin this morning at 8:00. For a coach's wife it is a time to gear up and prepare for 22 weeks of gridiron intensity! So what's a girl to do? Have a P-a-r-t-y, of course! Every year, the wives on our staff "huddle-up" for an evening of fun! Something I would liken to a scaled back version of 'Oprah's Favorite Things'! (Way scaled! ...there are no new cars or Coach purse's being given away, here!) ...but you get the idea! When the girls arrive the table is set and the candles are lit. When everyone is seated, we pass around a favorite appetizer, I like to call Raspberry Cheese.
Just look at these Ladies, aren't they beautiful? Every single one...inside and out!
After a delicious dinner of Summer Salad (baby spinach, gorgonzola crumbles, Texas peaches, fresh blueberries and blackberries, toasted almond slices, seasame and poppy seeds, with a drizzle of poppyseed dressing) and Quiche, it's down to business. With calenders in hand there's a lot of planning to be done! After the frenzy it's time for dessert...coffee and Creme Brulee with fresh raspberries.
Then it's off to the living room for 'fun and games' and lot's of prizes (collected through out the year)! This year we were fortunate to have Jody as 'game chairman', who kept us entertained all night long! The highlight being, the 'Dress a Cheerleader'! Where teams of 2 or 3, completely outfitted a 'cheerleader' from head to toe, with toilet paper.
The results were hysterical.... and the winner's chose a prize!
A lot of games, laughs and prizes later, we settled into comfy chairs for some serious 'girl talk'! ....and that's all I'm saying about that!!!
We had a great time! Planned our fall schedule. Looks like we're all set for a super fall. I hope between football games, after-game parties, Thursday Night Pot-lucks, Craft Nights, "walkie-talkies" @ the track, play days and a Love and Respect book study, we'll be able to get some work done! Some of us will be busier than others....
After all these years of being a c-wife, I've finally learned the 'key' to building a close-knit' group of wives. It's simple, really and anyone can do it:
'Reach out ...and gather in the women that surround you. Love them like family!'
That is just wonderful - what great ideas!! The Coaches wives on our staff had a lunch together at the Head Coaches house - and it was a lot of fun - but this looks like so much fun!!
