Purple Peach!

Purple Peach.............5 x 7.............Acrylic on canvasboard.............$75

I decided to paint the peach again today. Unfortunately I gave that particular peach away yesterday and I'm sorry to say it is no longer with us. So I painted today's peach, from yesterday's peach, but to keep things exciting I put it on a purple background. I'm edgy like that. I'm loving this shade of purple which leads me to this all important question: What is your favorite color? Do tell!

Pretty Peach

Three days in a row.

Pretty Peach............12 x 16...............Acrylic on canvas................$125

Yesterday at the Farmers Market, I ran across the most amazing peaches grown in Carbon, Texas, at Files Farms! They were wonderful in every way: fragrant, appearance, size and flavor. Seriously, it's been a long time since I've tasted a peach that good. Turns out the Files don't use pesticides or fertilizers, and they are convinced you can taste the difference. I decided to buy a entire box and rushed home to slice and freeze them. My, I certainly am feeling domestic this summer! Anyway, there just happen to be one peach in the whole batch, with it's leaves attached. I love that when that happens and decided to paint it today. So here is my Pretty Peach. I hope you like it and if you happen to have peaches 'running out your ears' try Peach French Toast. Our sweet daughter-in-love Jenny, made it last weekend and it was delicious! You'll find the recipe on my recipe blog, Coachette's Kitchen. Only my favorites make the cut. So give it a try!

Paint Challenge!

This week I've been challenged by friend and artist Mary, to paint everyday. Sounds so easy doesn't it! Unfortunately, routine doesn't come easy for me and that is why I'm proud to say I'm 2 for 2!

Yesterday after art class, I took inspiration from the pumpkins we painted in class (way to go Boots! Your pumpkin is perfect!!!) and developed the idea into something bigger. I'm growing pumpkins behind my house for the first time ever so I really enjoyed painting these.
It's been fun watching these huge vines grow.

Speaking of huge vines...have you ever grown these?

I bought this big beauty at the farmers market this morning and had plans to cut it and set up a simple still life tomorrow (day 3). However, today was very full and I didn't get a chance to paint until 5:00 pm. I only had an hour and couldn't decide what to paint. Honestly, I didn't want to be there but as you can see I stayed and I'm glad I did. Something about this painting that makes me smile. Perhaps it's the pink contrasting with the black, or the seeds and the long shadows they are casting, maybe it's the ridiculous scale of the watermelon in ratio to the table but I'm happy about it!

Last weekend, these Spradlins went to visit...

these Spradlins!
They treated us like royalty and we liked it!
Jenny made Peach French Toast for breakfast. It was delish! I'll post the recipe on Coachette's Kitchen.

Their new house is beautiful!

So are their dishes, and glasses and towels......aaah, to be newlyweds!

They also have great taste.

How do you like the niche?
I really enjoyed painting it? Thanks again Jenny, for not flinching when I messed up the bird and it looked like doo-doo!

Jenny snapped this picture of us right before we left. I love it! I love her!
I love Clint and Jenny.
I love having so much to love.
